Clinical Nurse Educator

Jefferson Healthcare (www.jeffersonhealthcare.org) is looking for a Registered Nurse educator to join our team as a Clinical Nurse Educator. We are looking for a BSN prepared registered nurse with expertise in education who will support the development of our bedside nurses and champions excellence and evidence-based nursing practice. Our ideal candidate has excellent clinical and technical skills with clinical reasoning and excellent communication skills along with enthusiasm for education. Position Description
The clinical nurse educator is a registered nurse with expertise in education who influences professional role, competence and professional growth of nurses in a variety of settings. The clinical educator serves as an educator, change agent, facilitator, consultant and researcher. The Clinical Educator supports the development of bedside nurses and fosters empowerment through knowledge and skills to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidence-based nursing practice.
This is a full time, exempt position
Education and Experience
- Current Washington State RN license in good standing required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or relevant degree required
- Graduate degree in Nursing, Education, or related specialty preferred
- Previous experience as a clinical educator preferred
- Current BLS and ACLS required
- Advanced current certification preferred for specific patient population: PALS, ENPC, TNCC, ANA Med-Surg. NRP, Wound Care, Conscious Sedation
- Specialty areas may require additional experience, certifications and licenses
- Minimum five years of acute nursing care experience required
- Minimum of three (3) years of full-time work experience in either Home Health/Hospice, Oncology, or Surgery
Essential Functions
- Develops and operationalizes effective methods of educating patient care staff focused on knowledge, skills and attitudes requisite for safe, competent and effective patient care practice. Identifies need, develops and offers specific education programs relevant to needs assessment and identified gaps in knowledge for assigned areas
- Functions as a consultant, collaborating with unit staff, management, organizational leadership and the academic community to ensure competency, promote staff development and advance the profession of nursing.
- Promotes evidence-based nursing practice through assessment, dissemination of information, analysis of practice, coaching and mentoring.
- Manages factors related to safety and effectiveness and cost in planning and delivering of professional development activities.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of competency-based education model, incorporating competency assessment into all educational activities
- Develops educational programs for unlicensed nursing support personnel
- Appreciates differences in learning styles, cultures and generational differences of learners participating in educational activities and develops activities to enhance participation and learning.
